WELCA  (Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America)

Statement of Purpose

As a community of women created in the image of God, called to discipleship in Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves to grow in faith, affirm our gifts, support one another, engage in ministry, and promote healing and wholeness in the church, the society, and the world.

Many activities are sponsored by WELCA throughout the year.  Circles provide a regular meeting time for fellowship and an opportunity to share our faith on a deeper level than just a quick Sunday morning chat.  The following is a brief general description of each circle.

Augustana Circle:  The ladies meet on the second Wednesday of each month.  They enjoy lunch at a member's home and then spend time on a Bible Study.  The emphasis is on Christian fellowship.  Their ages are varied from women in their fifties on up.  Some of the women are employed and many are retired.

Hannah Circle:  These ladies meet on the second Tuesday of the month in a member's home for Bible study, fellowship, and dessert. The majority of these women work outside the home and have children in their late teens through twenties.

Lydia Circle:  This Circle meets the first Thursday of the month at 7:00 p.m. in a member's home meeting the needs of women with a busy family life and/or job.  This circle focuses on fellowship and includes meeting, eating, talking and working on personal handwork projects.

Martha Circle:  These women meet on the third Monday of each month at 7:30 p.m. in a member's home.  They share fellowship, Bible Study, and dessert.  About half of these ladies work outside the home and some like to share stories about their young grandchildren.

Mary Circle:  This is a very active circle for women with young children.  They meet at church on the second Tuesday of the month at 9:00 a.m.  There is nursery care provided for $2.00 per child.  They work on a variety of programs, share fellowship, parenting concerns, Bible study and spiritual discussions.

Sarah Circle:  Sarah Circle was formed to fill the needs of today's 30 to 40-something working women.  They meet on the third Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in a member's home.  These women share fellowship, Bible Study and a dessert.
